Commonly Used Types of Winches on Ship
Ship Anchor Winch
The anchor winch is used to retract and release anchors and anchor chains. It is usually installed on the main deck of the fore and stern part of the ship, so that the ship is relatively fixed safely and reliably. When the ship is braked in an emergency, it can also help the ship to dock and leave the dock safely and quickly. The warping heads on both sides of the chain wheel can be used for line handling.
Mooring Winch
The mooring winch can operate effectively when the ship is mooring or docking, and has many functions such as drift, support and positioning during loading and unloading, and at the same time, the ship mooring equipment can adjust and compensate the deviation caused by vibration with a constant tension.
Windlass Mooring Winch
This kind of winch is equivalent to a combination of windlass and mooring winch. It is designed for mooring and anchoring ships.
Towing Winch
Towing winch is used to tow boats. Therefore, the pulling force of the winch is generally higher, and the speed is generally 10m/min.
Positioning Winch
Capstan Winch
Ship capstan is a small winch that is used on deck or shore to moor and anchor. There are mainly two types: electric capstan and hydraulic capstan. The speed can be single speed, double speed and three speed.
